The upcoming Flash/Supergirl crossover has turned into a Glee class reunion. TV Line is reporting that the musical crossover of the hit CW shows has found its villain with former Glee alum, Darren Criss. Criss joins the casts as the Music Meister, a role many fans wished would be going to Neil Patrick Harris, and will face off against his former Glee castmates, Melissa Benoist and Grant Gustin.
The episodes are set to air mid-March, starting with Supergirl on the 20th and ending with The Flash on the 21st. The Flash is currently loaded with musical talent, with the likes of Jesse Martin, Victor Garber, and Carlos Valdes lending their vocal talents along with the leads. The crossover is also reported to include performances by John Barrowman and Jeremy Jordan.
With a music inspired villain who forces our heroes to break out into song and dance, one can’t help but be reminded of the classic Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode, “Once More with Feeling”. That episode was as ambitious as it was entertaining, earning status as one of the more popular episodes of the series. That cult classic set a high bar for musical episodes, but with the number of classically trained cast members on both Supergirl and The Flash, there is little doubt that it can reach the same critical acclaim as its predecessors.
