The Goldbergs, the 1980s themed hit show on ABC, has featured several popular geek culture themes of the time period. Last year's fall run included nods to Howard the Duck, The Star Wars Holiday Special and Knight Rider. Now they're ready to shine the bat-signal and dedicate an upcoming episode to Tim Burton's 1989 Batman movie. They've also picked Batman fanatic Kevin Smith to direct it.
According to IGN, the episode will begin shooting next week and will be titled The Dynamic Duo (even though we didn't see Robin in the '89 film). Smith, of course, was a fan that remembers all of the hype and excitement that surrounded the Michael Keaton/Jack Nicholson film.
"I grew up watching the Adam West Batman and I was in a sold out movie theater for Tim Burton's Batman on opening day, June 23rd, 1989, so I can't wait to recreate those early eras of Bat-mania in the Goldbergs Universe, " he said.
As always, not everyone was sold on the idea of Micheal Keaton as Batman when it was announced. However, today you can find plenty of fans who think he was the best film version of the iconic hero.
